Description

 Directs, plans, organizes, controls, negotiates, presents, monitors and evaluates a complex variety of functions involving financial affairs, operations, research, risk management, personnel, facultyrecruitment and retention, compliance and physical facilities/space analysis in a large clinical department. This position is the primary departmental representative to outside agencies and works closely with governmental agencies, foundations, and industry in the management of intramural or extramural programs. Coordinates all managerial aspects of research activities with appropriate University officials assuring the integrity of all policies and procedures with the University and the research and grants administration office. Interviews, hires, trains, evaluates, disciplines and discharges subordinate personnel.

Under the general administrative and policy guidelines of the University of Alabama Health Services Foundation and the University of Alabama at Birmingham, incumbent plans, organizes, controls, monitors, evaluates and manages a complex variety of functions involvingfinancial affairs, personnel, and physical facilities/space analysis in a large clinical department. 

Qualifications

 Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, finance or a related field and ten (10) years of related experiencerequired. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement. MBA or other relevant master's degree or equivalent certification e.g. CPA is preferred. Minimum of five years administrative/managerial experience in a comparable health care operation is desirable. Experience with computerized data management systems and demonstrated expertise in third party reimbursement a must.

Must demonstrate leadership, initiative, and the ability to produce appropriate outcomes. Must be approachable and collaborative. Must possess strong analytical, interpersonal, communication, change management, and organizational skills.
