JOB DESCRIPTION

COMPANY is currently seeking a Director of Business Development to create and manage partnership relations with exchanges, networks, publishers and data providers. The ideal candidate is an experienced deal maker that has solid working knowledge of the online advertising industry, strong quantitative skills, and a history of producing exceptional results.



In this high-visibility position, you will be responsible for managing the entire partnership sales cycle, including identifying, structuring, negotiating and closing profitable partnerships. You will also be responsible for managing these partnerships on an ongoing basis. COMPANY is a fast-paced environment and is seeking someone who is self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a team environment with little guidance.


 


Responsibilities:


 


  • Critical member of COMPANY’s business development team. This team focuses on all business relationships with suppliers, data providers and other potential partners

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities and lead development of business plan.

  • Maintain continuous view of market so as to identify potential partners.

  • Develop, grow and maintain strong strategic and tactical relationships with all current and potential partners.

  • Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of each current and potential partner, from technical specs to business development initiatives to future plans.

  • Assume full ownership of business opportunity including project management, marketing collateral development, execution, resourcing, metrics measurement, etc.

  • Work with Tech team (VP Product, CIO, CTO, etc) to develop capabilities to enable execution of business plan. Role here is as facilitator and driver (ie, maintaining focus) but will rely on Tech for project management and spec/dev work.

  • Prospect and network to build pipeline of potential partners

  • Support and/or lead negotiations and/or contract formulation.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree from top tier college or university.

  • 4+ years of experience in a Business Development/Channel Sales (OEM)/ Partnership position. Ideally this experience will be in the Technology, Internet, or Media/Advertising industries.

  • Sales experience a plus

  • Entrepreneurial drive with strong understanding of business fundamentals

  • Ability to work successfully across departments and manage to multiple objectives

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong consultative sales skills, personable, charismatic

  • Passionate about marketing, no fear of numbers

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority

  • Must be able to travel 10 - 20% of the time (frequent day trips, semi-regular overnights required)
