JOB DESCRIPTION

Common Goal Systems provides hosted web-based instruction management and student information systems to the K-12 education market. We’re currently seeking an outside sales representative to sell our products in the Southern-IL territory. Our products are software as a service (SaaS) and are sold on an annual subscription basis . The position is for full-time employment.
 


COMPENSATION: 
Base salary + commission $100,000 plus benefits.

The outside sales representative will be responsible for the sale of new subscriptions and renewal of existing subscriptions in their territory. As part of the sales cycle they’ll make outbound calls to targeted prospect lists, attend conferences/trade shows, give presentations/demonstrations, manage complex sales processes, train small groups of prospects, close opportunities, and provide follow-up service to customers.


 


Our product set is feature-rich. Our customers are often school districts with many stakeholders participating in the selection process. The sales situations are frequently competitive.  The successful sales rep needs to have strong computer skills to understand our software, concisely communicate complex ideas during presentations, identify and speak to individual stakeholders needs, drive a complex sales process with many meetings and influencers, position effectively against the competition, and close opportunities all the while being gregarious and engaging.  We are looking for "A" players with great energy and hustle.


 


A high level of integrity is also a must for this position. Subscription renewals are integral to the company strategy and the rep’s personal earnings. Renewals from happy customers are the result of consistently meeting the customers’ expectations. So expectations must be set reasonably during the sales process by the sales rep. The company’s executive team expects a high level of integrity from all of its employees, especially from its field sales staff.



REQUIREMENTS:
- BS/BA or equivalent 4 year degree
- 5+ years sales experience, preferably in the K-12 education or technology markets
- Established track record of high sales performance verifiable by 3 years W2 statements
- Experience with complex sales situations in competitive markets
- Ability to communicate in a clear, concise manner
- Gregarious and engaging personality
- High level of professionalism
- Technical fluency using the web, email, and basic software programs
- Tremendous energy and motivation
- Solid integrity and character
- Desire to help educators and improve the quality of education
- Desire to service customers to ensure their success and re-subscription
- Has physical space appropriate for a home office
- BS/BA in technical field (Math, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, etc.) a plus
- Former teaching experience a plus
